Notes on the Disposal of Old Batterie
1. Free Return of Old Batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Legally, you are obliged to return old batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can hand in old batteries at a municipal collection point or at a local retail store. As a battery distributor, we are also obliged to take back old batteries, but our obligation to do so is limited to batteries of the type that we sell or have sold as new in our range. Therefore, you can either send old batteries of the aforementioned type to us prepaid or drop them off free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the following address:
ModiTech Service GmbH
Bernsdorfer Straße 291
09125 Chemnitz
Germany
2. Meaning of the Battery Symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out trash bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% by mass of mercury, more than 0.002% by mass of cadmium, or more than 0.004% by mass of lead, the chemical designation of the respective hazardous substance is shown below the trash bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
